I am writing this because as a retired Gulf War era veteran at 100%, I am tired of John McCain playing up his "war hero" status, over and over again. See McCain won't tell the other side of story about what happened to him as a POW..
In 1973 McCain gave an interview to the magazine, U.S. New and World Report.. article here http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/2008/01/28/john-mccain-prisoner-of-war-a-first-person-account.html
IN HIS OWN WORDS.... On page 2 of that article McCain states, "After being periodically slapped around for "three or four days" by his captors who wanted military information from him, McCain called for an officer on his fourth day of captivity. He told the officer, "O.K., I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital." -U.S. News and World Report, May 14, 1973 article written by former POW John McCain..
See in my eyes and a lot of veterans eyes, McCain isn't a war hero. In fact he violated the United States Military Code of Conduct states
Article IV states...
"If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way".
and Finally the consequences of giving information other than, Name, Rank and Serial #
"Understand that a POW who voluntarily informs or collaborates with the captor is disloyal to the United States and fellow POWs and, after repatriation, is subject to disciplinary action under the UCMJ for such actions.
SO why wasn't McCain tried? Read this article.. http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/
